The Social Committee of St. Andrew by the Bay
In the kitchen loves to play.
For all those events, we plan and we cook
We beg of you, please take a look.
To prepare for Lent and its meger fare,
A Pancake Dinner we do prepare.
Proceeds from this awsome feast
Goes to St. Vincent's for those with the least.
Five Friday Fish Dinners follow then
Along with donations for poor women and men.
In the Spring when shrimp boats are running
Its gumbo and shrimp, music and funning.
Summer comes with a picnic on our shore
Our sister parish helps us cook some more.
In the Fall when leaves turn golden and red,
Its knockwurst and beer the parish is fed.
Throughout the year we're busy as bees
Planning and cooking these events to please.
The Social Committee of St. Andrew by the Bay has actively raised funds in support of our parish through its primary fund-raising events:
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner - Mardi Gras
Lenten Fish Dinners - Fridays during Lent
Shrimp Feast - held in May
Oktoberfest - in October
In addition to annual gifts for such worthy causes as the Youth Summer Work Camp and St. Vincent de Paul, the Social Committee has purchased and upgraded equipment for the parish kitchen enabling not only the Social Committee but all other parish committees to better serve the social needs of our faith communnity.
